The Grassroots Leadership Development Forum (the 'Forum') differs from other leadership programs in focus, values, and methodology. The Forum focuses on busy, grassroots leaders who are committed to serving in their local communities. We value the contributions of all leaders and seek to equip grassroots leaders so they can more effectively serve their clients and communities. We value lifelong learning and translate the best in academic theories to real-life issues and challenges grassroots leaders face on a weekly basis.
There is a simple answer to that question. We seek to develop and serve grassroots leaders. We are committed to working with leaders of faith-based and community organizations that are connected to their communities. It's a forum, because there is mutual exchange of information. This is a true information exchange with respect for all participants.
Grassroots is usually defined as working at the local, community level rather than at the center of major political activity. We believe real change happens in the neighborhoods and communities – not just in the political centers of power. Grassroots also involves common people versus the elite of society.
You are a candidate if you are a leader of a grassroots organization or aspire to serve in a leadership capacity in an organization that serves at the local or community level.

The Forum is open to people of all faiths. The theme for the 2007 Forum is Servant Leadership. While this term was originally coined by Robert Greenleaf, Servant Leadership is deeply entrenched in our Judeo-Christian heritage. Therefore, many of the texts and faculty for the 2007 Forum belong to the Judeo-Christian tradition. Our purpose in using them is to teach leadership principles, not proselytize.
