What is a leader's role within the organization?

A leader's primary role is to set and share the vision of an organization. However, leaders provide a variety of roles in any organization. These vary based on the unique needs of the organization and the leader's sphere of responsibility within the organization. Broadly speaking, everything rises and falls with leadership. The leader's role is perhaps best described by the now famous slogan found on the desk of President Harry Truman - "the buck stops here".

Are leaders born or made?

Both. Some leaders are born with charisma that compels others to follow. Others develop leadership skills through training, education, and experience. Regardless of an individual's journy toward leadership, style can be improved through education, mentoring, experience, etc. Great leaders share a common characteristic: a goal of continual self-improvement.

What is the role of the Executive Director?

The Executive Director is the person appointed by the Board of Directors to provide leadership toward the achievement of the organization's mission and strategic goals.
